There’s no denying that network cabling is an essential tool for any business, especially one that spends a lot of its time online. However, if you’re just getting into this area then it can be a bit confusing trying to distinguish between the different varieties that are available. That’s why we've put together this little list of the varying models.
Unshielded Twisted Pair Cables. There is a definite advantage to this variety of network cabling, simply because it’s probably the most inexpensive! If you’re looking for a good way to budget on a larger job, this is probably the right option for you.
It is worth considering, however, that these cables can be subject to noise interference, and also be on the slow side every now and then. (more...)
There are so many electronic gadgets available nowadays, it is hard to know which ones to buy. Everything we used to do manually can now be done with something electronic.
In the past we used to entertain ourselves by playing games. Now children hardly ever play board games or card games unless they are on a computer, and some children have only ever played tennis or bowling on a Wii console!
Instead of searching for information in an encyclopaedia like our parents and grandparents did, we can now search the internet for anything we want, even on our smart phones such as Blackberry mobile phones if we don't happen to be nearer a computer. (more...)
Whether you’re in the building trade or a serious DIY’er combi, you’ll need to have at least one decent drill. So if you’re looking for a good all-rounder, a combi drill is the obvious choice. Combi drills tend to be lighter than other drills such as SDS drills or percussion drills, and less suited to drilling bigger, deeper holes into masonry or concrete. Combi drills are designed for drilling into a variety of materials, particularly wood and timber. As such they’re typically used by site joiners, capenters and other tradesmen. That said, many of the newer combi drills featuring Lithium-ion batteries can reach similar levels to hammer drills in terms of the diameter of holes they can drill into concrete. If you already have an SDS drill, you shouldn’t forget that combi drills and SDS drill use different bits. With an SDS drill, you need to use special fluted SDS drill bits however combi drills use standard drill bits. If you can afford a combi drill with a Lithium-ion battery then you should take this option. They’re lighter, more powerful, they hold their charge longer and are also faster at recharging. Examples include Bosch’s GSB range, Makita LXT drills and DeWalt XRP. As with most tools, you get what you pay for so if you want a lighter, more powerful combi drill, expect to pay in the range of £150-£200.
Compressors are being used in almost every industrial sector including the aircraft industry, the automobile industry, the textile industry and the dairy farming industry. For more than 100 years, air compressors have been making use of air to power some of the most common and widely-used power tools. The fact is that air is a clean, convenient, safe and flexible resource. Tools powered by air have evolved over the years and have become highly reliable and almost indispensable.
Those involved in the industrial sector as well as home users might be faced with the difficult decision of purchasing an air compressor. The main aim of purchasing air tools or air compressors is to save money and time on any given project. Users tend to purchase air tools instead of electric tools or cordless tools powered by battery because air tools are normally more powerful and are lighter. This is why home users as well as industrial users prefer tools powered by air compressors.
The fact is that there are many different types of compressors as well as many different brands. The Bostitch compressors or Bostitch Compressoren as they are called in Dutch works much like many other common types of compressors in that they fill a chamber with air and reduce the volume in the chamber to release the air thus powering the air tool. Some common types of Bostitch compressors include the rotary screw, the rotary vane, and the reciprocating compressors. (more...)
